My road to becoming a developer was an interesting one. I got my start being a contract Network Administrator for the City of Nashville, Tennessee supporting the Metro Clerk's Office, The City Council's Office, as well as the Mayor's Office. After about a year and a half working for Davidson County (Nashville), I moved on to work for Ingram Book Group in Lavergne, Tennessee. This would be the place where I would continue to sharpen my sword as a developer. Working with old school mainframe and Cobol programmers, I was initiated into the world of Software Development. I absorbed every bit of knowledge around me, and was introduced to emerging technologies such as IIS 2.0, Active Server Pages, Java, Java Server Pages, ColdFusion, MS Access, MS SQL Server 6.5, MS SQL Server 7, and Microsoft Site Server 3.0. After about 3 years at Ingram Book Group, I accepted an opportunity to test my skills in Silicon Valley California -- back then the mecca for developers, software engineers, genius hackers, and start-up gurus. There I continued build upon the skills I had already established at Ingram Book Group at an internet startup called Asera, working with Sun Microsystems, Oracle, and OpenText's Livelink application. In addition to these hard programmer skills, it was at Asera where I was first introduced to the Digital Marketing world. Unfortunately, when the dot.com bubble burst in Silicon Valley, and a lot of companies were shutting down, after 3 years in California, I returned to Nashville to work with the music industry at Universal Music Group. Now armed with what I learned about marketing and development in Silicon Valley, I was determined to make a name for myself in Nashville as an application developer. Although, I would travel abroad in the future for several contracting opportunities, I have since made Nashville, Tennessee my home.
My recently used skills are PHP 4.0 – 7.0, Vue.js Javascript framework, .Net Core 3.0, Azure DevOps/TFS, ASP.NET, Classic ASP, C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, WordPress CMS, Umbraco CMS, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
And some not so recently used skills I have are SEO, Symfony PHP Framework, Laravel PHP Framework, Codeigniter Framework, SlimPHP Framework, Cold Fusion/Flex, Salesforce.com, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Podcasting Marketing and Services.
Specialties and Interests:
• Web, software, mobile application development, video, and graphic design
• Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Website analytics and monitoring, lead generation, and customer relationship management
• Custom content creation and writing copy for marketing, technical documentation, organizational culture, and short story format
• Wrote a screenplay that was published (straight to video, lol) and was in a movie with Samuel L. Jackson, Kyle McLaughlin, Clarence Williams III, Tiny Lester (RIP), and Danny "Machete" Trejo. That's right! Although admittedly, to see me will need a VCR and a working pause button to see me.
Thank you for taking the time and consideration!
